Team Summary:
DJS Antariksh is the official rover challenge team of Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering, Mumbai, India. It was founded in January 2020 with a motto – “To Decipher Unimaginable”. The team builds a fully functional Martian rover to be presented at various national and international competitions held throughout the year. It has student members from diverse streams belonging to Second, Third and Final Year of Engineering. The team comprises five major departments namely Electronics, Mechanical, Coding, Science and Marketing, working together with a major focus on Technology and Innovation. The team has won some of the biggest international awards and has brought laurels to the college.
Competition Summary:
- European Rover Challenge (ERC):
ERC is one of the best and most prestigious robotics competitions in the world. It is the annual international Martian Rover competition that gains participation of teams from across the globe. The competition has been organized every year since 2014 in Poland and is usually held in the 2nd week of September. ERC 2020 was conducted from 11th to 13th September 2020. It was made virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the events were conducted remotely. The major tasks involved in the competition were Science and Navigation task, Maintenance Task and Presentation Task.
In its debut year itself, the team successfully achieved a podium finish at the European Rover Challenge (ERC) 2020. They secured the 3rd Position Worldwide, 1st Position throughout Asia, and also received the Best Science Planning Award at the competition.
- International Mars Hackathon (IMH):
The International Mars Hackathon (IMH) 2020 was the first of its kind event organized by the Mars Society South Asia (MSSA). The 48-hour competition took place on 31st October and 1st November 2020, wherein participating teams had to solve 8 problem statements based on Mars colonization in 2040. The team notably stood 8th among 24 international teams and 1st all over Maharashtra.
